YMCA Meta Media

Meta (Music, Engineering, Technology, Arts) Media is a new digital media lab that combines youth interests + production centered learning experience with instruction adults who support learning in a collaboration + critical way. The program required transformation of an existing space within a historic building + underutilized 90-year-old space. The design inserts a spine of new program + conceals the new utilities that had to be delivered to the space to accommodate technology while large expanses of glass provide visual connection between the music, office, + workshop spaces. Overcoming technical + spatial constraints, MetaMedia is anchored by three custom designed elements identifying a central hub, dedicated 3d printer area + reconfigurable seating ziggurat.
